Murder Mystery 2, usually called MM2, is a round-based Roblox survival game created by Nikilis. Each round assigns players secret roles. One player becomes the Murderer, one becomes the Sheriff, and the rest are Innocents. The fun comes from hiding your role, reading other players, surviving, and using the right moment to act.
Basic round flow: join lobby -> vote or wait for a map -> receive a secret role -> play the round -> earn XP, coins, or items -> return to lobby.
Innocents win by surviving until the timer ends or by helping the Sheriff or Hero eliminate the Murderer.
Sheriff wins by identifying and shooting the Murderer.
Hero is an Innocent who picks up the dropped gun after the Sheriff dies and then shoots the Murderer.
Murderer wins by eliminating the Sheriff and all Innocents before the round ends.
Role
Goal
Beginner strategy
Innocent
Survive and help identify the Murderer.
Stay alert, avoid isolated corners, watch who has a knife, collect coins safely, and move toward the dropped gun only when it is safe.
Sheriff
Protect Innocents and shoot the Murderer.
Keep your role secret, stay near open areas, do not stand inside tight crowds, and never shoot without evidence.
Hero
Pick up the dropped gun and stop the Murderer.
Wait for a clean shot, keep distance, and do not rush into knife range.
Murderer
Eliminate everyone without being shot.
Do not reveal the knife too early, isolate targets, use corners and map routes, and avoid obvious chases in front of the Sheriff.
Your best weapon is information. Watch movement, deaths, and who is running from where.
If you see the Murderer, create distance instead of running in a straight line through narrow corridors.
If the Sheriff dies, the gun drops. Picking it up can make you the Hero, but rushing the gun blindly often gets you killed.
Collect coins when safe, but survival matters more than coins.
The Sheriff is the only player who spawns with a gun.
Keep your identity hidden. If the Murderer knows who you are, you become the first target.
A wrong shot can kill an Innocent and punish the Sheriff, so wait for clear proof.
The gun has a reload delay after each shot. Use it at close or mid range instead of panic-firing from far away.
The knife is given shortly after the round starts, so use the first seconds to blend in.
You can stab at close range or throw the knife at distance.
Pick off isolated players first, then pressure groups when the Sheriff’s position is unclear.
If the Sheriff misses a shot, that reload window is your chance to attack.

Use the in-game bumper and trigger prompts. Controller support can vary.
Standard / Casual: the best mode for beginners. Learn the roles, maps, and timing here first.
Assassin: a more aggressive mode built around assigned targets. Try it after you understand movement and aiming.
Disguises / special modes: mode rules can change how identities are shown, so read the in-game mode description before starting.
Beginner recommendation: start with Standard or Casual until you can consistently survive, identify suspicious behavior, and use the gun calmly.
Learn common hallways, open rooms, hiding spots, and dead ends.
Avoid trapping yourself in a room with only one exit.
Open spaces are safer for Sheriff and Hero because they give more aiming room.
Tight corridors help the Murderer because knife range and surprise attacks are stronger there.
If you hear or see chaos nearby, rotate away instead of following the crowd blindly.
Coins spawn around the map and are used to buy shop items such as boxes, effects, and pets. The normal per-round coin cap is 40, while Elite Gamepass players can collect up to 50.
Knives are used by the Murderer or Assassin role.
Guns are used by the Sheriff or Hero.
Most weapons are cosmetic variants. Rare weapons look better or have trading value, but they do not replace good positioning, aim, and awareness.
New-player priority: collect coins safely, open boxes only when you want cosmetics, and focus on learning maps before worrying about rare items.
Trading lets players exchange weapons, pets, and some miscellaneous items. Effects, emotes, and radios are not tradable. Trading is restricted to players level 10 or higher.
Safe trading habits
Do not trade just because someone pressures you.
Check item value, demand, rarity, and stability before accepting.
The trade menu has a short accept delay after items change, so use that time to re-check both sides.
Be careful with “trust trade,” “borrow,” “I will add after,” or other promises outside the trade window.
Play Standard or Casual mode first.
Spend a few rounds learning maps and escape routes.
As Innocent, practice surviving and identifying suspicious movement.
As Sheriff, only shoot after seeing the knife, a kill, or very strong proof.
As Murderer, stay calm, isolate targets, and avoid showing the knife too early.
Collect coins only when it does not put you in danger.
Ignore risky trades until you understand item values.
Innocent: survive and observe. Sheriff: wait for proof and shoot carefully. Hero: pick up the gun only when safe. Murderer: blend in first, strike when isolated.
